Independent Contractor 101:

Alright, let's break it down! An independent contractor is an individual who provides services to a business or client but is not an employee. Instead, they operate as a separate entity, often with their own business.

Key Factors to Know:

  1. Business Relationship: As an independent contractor, you're in a business-to-business relationship with the client or business. It's a partnership, not an employer-employee situation.
  2. Control and Independence: You have control over how you perform your work. The client may provide guidelines, but the freedom to determine how the work is done is in your hands.
  3. Own Equipment and Expenses: Typically, independent contractors use their own equipment and cover their business expenses. This can include tools, workspace, and other necessary resources.
  4. Tax Responsibilities: As an independent contractor, you're responsible for your own taxes. This means you might need to set aside money for taxes, pay estimated taxes, and handle your tax deductions.
  5. No Employee Benefits: Unlike employees, independent contractors usually don't receive benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off. You're essentially running your own mini-business.
  6. Flexibility: Enjoy the flexibility to choose your own working hours and projects. It's all about that work-life balance.
  7. Contractual Agreement: A written contract is often involved, outlining the terms of the arrangement, including scope of work, payment terms, and any specific conditions.

Remember, being an independent contractor offers flexibility and autonomy but comes with added responsibilities. Stay informed, stay organized, and embrace the entrepreneurial spirit!

You've applied, and now you're on the path to success! Please allow up to 8 hours for your application to be processed. Once you're qualified, you'll receive simple registration steps to set up your remote agent profile.

Residency Requirements: Must be a USA resident residing in one of the following states:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming.

  1. Background Check and Assessment: Ability to pass a background check and basic assessment.
  2. Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
  3. Professionalism and Reliability: Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  4. Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in technology with a solid understanding of navigating phone/email/chat software.
  5. Deadline Management: Capability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling interaction with clients, employers, or team members.
  7. Equipment Ownership: Must own compatible equipment for the job.

At CBC & Co, it's all about flexibility! Choose your own schedule based on what works best for you. While we recommend a minimum of 10 hours per week to meet most client contract requirements, the power is in your hands.

Feel like a multitasking pro? Work for more than one client, as long as schedules don't clash. Enjoy the freedom to earn on your terms. Keep in mind, though, a friendly reminder: you can't terminate more than 2 contracts per year, and meeting performance requirements keeps you enrolled in the success journey.

The exciting part—let's talk about the moolah! The pay at CBC & Co is a dynamic thing and depends on the client you choose to service. Hourly rates can range between $10 and $25.

But wait, there's more! The pay can dance around a bit based on factors like performance requirements, metrics, and juicy incentives. So, not only do you get to choose your own adventure, but you also get to spice up your earnings. Now that's what we call a win-win!

In response to the frequently asked question about paid training, we're thrilled to share the exciting details of Phase II: Instructor-Led Learning & Certification Call-Taking. Earn While You Learn! During the last week of training you will be making practice calls to certify and you get paid for those calls which is roughly 10 hours worth.

Great question! As an independent contractor working with us, there are a few costs and benefits to consider:

Costs:

  1. Background Check Fee: You are responsible for the background check fee. This is a one-time expense to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  2. Platform Fees: There are fees associated with using our platform, and these are deducted per pay period. It's a way to cover the costs of providing you with tools and support.

Benefits:

  1. Tax Deductibility: The positive side is that both the background check fee and platform fees are tax-deductible. This means you can potentially reduce your taxable income when it's time to file taxes.
  2. Control Over Expenses: As an independent contractor, you have control over your business expenses. Many of these expenses can be deducted to minimize your tax liability.
  3. No Tax Deductions from Pay: Keep in mind that no taxes are deducted from your pay. While this means you receive your full pay, it's crucial to set aside money for taxes and consult a tax professional for proper filing.

In a nutshell, being an independent contractor involves some costs, but the tax advantages can make it a financially savvy choice. As always, seeking advice from a tax professional will ensure you navigate this aspect wisely.
